Jewelry Cleaning and Care

A few do's and don'ts...

1. Protect jewelry from prolonged heat and sun exposure.

2. Protect jewelry from perfume and makeup. Put on after applying.

3. Do not use commercial jewelry cleaners on Turquoise or pearls.

4. Store pearls and turquoise away from harder stones as they scratch easily.

5. To keep sterling silver bright and shiny, store is sealed plastic baggie. Oxygen tarnishes the silver after lengthy exposure.

6. Expensive vintage jewelry should be cleaned by a professional jeweler.

Personally, even though I have a jewelry armoire which is supposed to keep my jewelry tarnish free because of the lining, I keep everything, and I mean EVERY SINGLE piece in its separate baggie.

I group sets together and keep earrings in much smaller bags inside the necklace or bracelet bag. But my jewelry always looks great.
